There is a diversity of flora and fauna in a variety of habitats at Kitchawan Preserve. Vernal pools grace the preserve providing breeding habitat for many species of amphibians and invertebrates. The old fields with an array of wild flowers support butterflies and birds.

The wide woods roads in parts of the Kitchawan Preserve, offer ample opportunity to stroll and chat with other hikers. Expect to find dogs as the preserve is extremely popular with dog walkers. Unfortunately most of the dogs are off leash.
