Roosevelt Slept Here
This is one of the first preserves in the US. The South Shore Gentleman's Club from the 1870's lured many wealthy members. The estate and its lake was known for its fishing. Theodore Roosevelt rode around the park extensively. It even has a rebuilt fish hatchery. The other sections of the park are thinly wooded trails. The grass is high in the summer and the ticks are extensive. It is generally flat. The most popular activity is bird watching.

Great details! - First time Greenbelt hiker

My friend and I set out on the journey to complete 30 miles within 10 hours and this was the hike we picked to complete this challenge. We were worried as we never hiked this trail before and have time and time again gotten a little lost. We printed off this hike in bullet points and it was great! We did not get lost. As of 3/28/2016 the construction is still there. My only extra detail I'd add is there are a lot of roots on this trail so a rolled ankle is easy to get here. Watch where you are hiking.

Thank you for helping us complete our 30 mile adventure with great directions!
